Stay Safe, Spartanburg: Road Construction Updates and Travel Tips

At Nunn Better Towing & Recovery, we care deeply about the safety and well-being of our Spartanburg neighbors. With all the ongoing road construction around the area, we want to remind everyone to stay extra alert behind the wheel and to plan ahead when heading out. A little extra time can help you avoid unnecessary stress—or worse, an accident.

These roads aren’t just where we work—they’re where our families drive too, which is why it's so important to us that everyone makes it home safely. We’re hopeful that once all these projects are completed, the flow of traffic will improve, travel will be more efficient, and our local roads will be safer for everyone.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the ongoing projects in our area and how they might affect your daily drive:

🚧 SC 101 Lane Closures

Starting June 16, 2025, the SCDOT began lane closures on SC 101 here in Spartanburg County. These will continue Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., likely until the end of June. Be sure to slow down, watch for workers, and expect possible delays if you travel this route.

🚧 Country Club Road Corridor Project

On the Eastside of Spartanburg, construction along Country Club Road is still in full swing. Work is ongoing from Union Street to Pine Street, including the installation of storm drains, pedestrian paths, retaining walls, and a new bridge. While some locals have voiced frustration about congestion, we remain optimistic that the final result will be worth the temporary inconvenience. The project is projected to wrap up by Summer 2025.

🚧 Bryant Road Improvements

Bryant Road is getting a major facelift. While flagging operations are currently in place, a detour between Davis Road and Fairview Church Road started on June 30. Please stay cautious in this area, especially around crews and equipment.

🚧 Ballenger Road & Neighborhood Updates

Pipe and ditch work continues on Ballenger Road, with paving scheduled for later this summer. Several neighborhoods—including Tyger Shoals, Riveredge, Hamilton Chase, Brighton Woods, and Patriot Hill—are also seeing upgrades. Work in Stone Station, Laynewood, and Dorman Meadow is expected to begin soon. A quick heads-up: vehicles parked on the street in these zones may be towed, so make arrangements to keep the roads clear when construction begins.

🛠️ What’s Coming Soon?

Spartanburg County is planning even more improvements in the coming months:

  • Lewis Chapel Road Widening (bid letting July 3)
  • Tier 1 Penny Roadway Paving - Group 1 (bid letting August 7)
  • Municipal Paving in Greer, Wellford, Reidville (bid letting August 5)
  • Bryant Road Segment Rebuild (bid letting July 31)
  • Zion Hill at Sloan’s Grove Roundabout (bid letting August 21)

These projects aim to strengthen infrastructure and improve traffic patterns in some of our busiest areas.
